![]() ![]() ![]() What made this performance truly beautiful was the backup vocals. The original electric guitar and drum parts were played by a piano and stringed instruments. The lights went down and the the spotlight was on her. Miley sang this song while seated on a log. It was was all about the music and the music was perfect. Nothing else can really be said about Miley’s performance of this song. The original arrangement sounded very similar but the rawness of the live vocals made the Unplugged performance even more lovable. Maybe I’m a little biased since this song was my favorite from the album, but Miley did this song magnificently. Despite her flashy attire, Miley’s vocals had all of my attention. Miley’s performance of this piece really showed her vocal talent. The Unplugged version consisted of the same warm tone that the original possessed, but unlike the album version, the Unplugged version seemed more personal. Miley finally calmed down and my focus was finally on the music! During this song, she stood in one place, with her eyes closed and sang straight from the heart. From the way Miley walked out onto the stage, to the instrumental of the song, the performance was just kind of odd. Honestly, this performance was a bit creepy. The instrumental of this song went from sounding like and electronic dance hit on the album, to sounding like Halloween in Nashville on the Unplugged stage. The entire ensemble was covered in sequins, by the way. This co stume consisted of a ripped over-sized jean jacket, a blue jean bikini top, and over-sized, baggy blue jeans. Miley came out with a different hairstyle and costume at the beginning of this song. Though it was only the third song in the concert, I was reall y quite disappointed. Yes, Miley sat on a person dressed in a horse costume and pretended to ride its back. During the bridge of the song, Miley even rode the “horse” on the sage. It was like she was just flat out yelling notes. It was almost like she wasn’t even singing at times. Though her performance was toned down form the last song, Miley still manged to distract me from her vocals by dancing inappropriately and exaggerating the original notes. ![]() #GETITRIGHT:Ī lot more relaxed, Miley began singing this whistle filled tune. Yeah, like Hannah Montana, but a billion times worse. What else is there to be said? Oh yeah, she was wearing a lame blonde wig. Miley and her little hypewoman shook their rears and yelped lyrics the entire time. While gyrating around in her ridiculous red and white checkered jumpsiut, Miley managed basically ruin one of my favorite songs from her latest album, Bangerz. Below is a song by song review of Miley’s concert.īasically… Miley took the original electronically influenced “Do My Thang” and created a comical hoedown rendition of it on MTV’s stage. Noah, who shared her The End of Everything EP this year, joined Miley for a performance of the younger Cyrus’ “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus.” The sisters, both dressed in sleek black leather, traded harmonies for a truly angelic delivery.Ĭyrus closed out her Backyard Session s with a performance of her smash recent single, “Midnight Sky.” She delivered the powerful melody underneath sparkling disco balls in a chartreuse sequined dress, swaying her hips to the beat for a glamorous end to an enchanting show.Tonight was the premiere of Miley Cyrus’ first MTV Unplugged special. She flawlessly belted Pearl Jam‘s 2009 ode to gratitude, “Just Breathe,” a phrase that Cyrus also has tattooed on her ribcage. She kicked off the show with a rocked-out rendition of Spears’ 2007 hit “Gimme More.” The dark twist on the mid-2000s pop track was made complete with Cyrus’ characteristic rasp and Southern twang.įollowing the grit of “Gimme More,” Cyrus smoothed it out with a breezy cover of Nico’s 1967 track “These Days.” Surrounded by palm trees with red paper hearts hanging from the leaves and the sunlight shining behind her, the singer had us holding onto summer as she sang, “These days I seem to think about / How all the changes came about my ways / And I wonder if I’d see another highway.”Īfter a quick outfit changed, Cyrus appeared at golden hour in a snakeskin gown, big gold hoops and a sparkling green eye look. Cyrus strutted onto her at-home stage looking like an 80s dream in a flowy zebra-print dress, matching gloves, big black-and-white sunglasses, gold accessories and, of course, her blonde mullet and a red lip. ![]()
